What’s the First Step?

What to Expect on the Day of Lip Lift Surgery

Once sedated, he will carefully place incisions along the natural lip line or beneath the base of the nose, depending on the technique of choice. He will also be careful to hide the incisions in the facial folds to prevent visible scarring as much as he can. Once under the skin, he will remove any excess skin or tissue to elevate the upper lip. Once he achieves the optimum mouth shape, he will seal the incisions with sutures and dress the area.

On average, a lip lift takes about one to two hours, and after the procedure, you will receive detailed post-operative care instructions to promote proper healing.

Lip Lift Recovery

After your lip lift surgery, our staff will monitor you in our recovery room until you awaken from sedation. It is recommended to have a friend or caretaker drive you home in case any effects of sedation last.

Be aware that there will be some swelling and bruising around your lips, but it should subside over the next few days. We encourage our patients to avoid any strenuous activities for the first few weeks and follow the specific guidelines for eating, drinking, talking, and using their lips and mouth.
