What to Expect on the Day of a BOTOX Treatment

Dr. Ogilvie performs Botox procedures at our Chicago office. Anesthesia is generally not required, though a topical numbing agent might be used for particularly sensitive patients in some cases.

Most Botox injections are intended to eliminate specific areas of wrinkles. Once those areas of wrinkles are identified, Dr. Ogilvie will make the appropriate injections. The injections typically take less than 15 minutes, meaning that patients are at Dr. Ogilvie’s office for thirty minutes or less.

Some slight bruising may occur after Botox injections. There are typically no restrictions after undergoing Botox injections. Neuromodulators start to take effect around 48 hours after the injection, although the peak effect usually takes up to 2 weeks.

BOTOX Recovery

Patients receiving Botox may notice immediate results depending on the extent of the treatment area. Those results typically include subtle but noticeable improvements in the lines and wrinkles around the face. Generally, the face will look more youthful and energetic, and the deepest lines and wrinkles will look diminished or completely resolved.

Results will begin to wane after four months, so many patients may opt to receive regular maintenance injections to prevent wrinkles.
