Rhinoplasty Timeline
Consultation
During your consultation, Dr. Ogilvie will examine your nose and determine the best techniques to achieve your desired nasal aesthetic and functionality. He will then make your procedure plan, and our patient coordinator will help you schedule your surgical date and provide you with pre-op instructions.
Pre-operative preparation
Prior to your surgery, you will be asked to fast for at least eight hours, come in showered and clean, avoid moisturizers, makeup, and perfume, and turn in a blood test, among other instructions. We will provide you with a detailed list as mentioned above.
Surgery
When you come into our surgical center, Dr. Ogilvie will review your surgery before you are administered anesthesia. He will perform the steps as discussed during your consultation and close any incisions. You will be able to return home on the same day as your procedure.
Recovery
After surgery, you can expect some initial bruising and swelling and feel congested in your nose, which will subside over the next week or two. You will need to sleep with your head elevated and avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks, although you will be encouraged to go on light walks to prevent blood clotting.
Post-operative appointments
Dr. Ogilvie will have you return the day after your surgery to remove any packing and replace any bandages. You will have another appointment a week later so your sutures can be removed and your nasal splint can be replaced. You will have a few more check-ups spaced apart over the course of a year.
