What to Expect During and After Your Butt Lift
There are two distinct butt lift methods–one involving fat injections and the other involving the insertion of silicone implants. Both procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, so patients are allowed to return home the same day as their procedure.
A Butt Lift With Implants — If your butt lift procedure requires implants, two small incisions will be made along the upper buttock cleft, and the implants are then placed below the gluteus maximus muscle. Incisions are closed with sutures, and the patient is allowed to return home. Swelling may take several weeks to subside, but patients will notice a significantly larger and rounder buttocks area.
A Butt Lift with Fat Injections — During a butt lift with fat injections, small incisions will be made for liposuction in the desired area. Once the fat is removed, it is purified and injected in multiple directions to ensure the fat is evenly distributed and taken evenly across the desired area. How can I recover faster after a BBL?
To help speed your recovery after a BBL, Dr. Ogilvie or someone on his team will give you post-surgical instructions. You should avoid sitting on your butt for at least 14 days as the area heals. Dr. Ogilvie recommends you have a donut-shaped pillow or a Boppy nursing pillow that allows you to sit down with pressure placed on your legs instead of your buttocks. Light stretching and short walks can improve your blood flow and decrease swelling. Dr. Ogilvie might also recommend a lymphatic drainage massage that can help your recovery.
