The Brow Lift Procedure
As the brows become heavier with aging, they often drop to or below the upper rim of the eye, causing a tired or angry appearance. To reposition the brow, there are five possible primary techniques used at OPS:
- First is the least invasive eyelid incision
- The second is a slightly more invasive temporal incision
- The third is the direct brow incision
- Fourth is the hairline incision
- Fifth and lastly is the most invasive: the traditional or posterior-hairline incision.
At OPS, we tailor the procedure to the patient's needs to give the most effective but natural-appearing results.
What Should You Expect?
Anesthesia – The brow lift can be performed with either oral, IV, or general anesthesia to keep you the most comfortable during the procedure. In cases when local anesthesia is appropriate, a sedative may also be used.
Incision – As stated earlier, five possible incisions may be used, the eyelid or brow incision, the temporal incision, the direct brow incision, the anterior hairline incision, or the traditional posterior hairline incision.
Closure – All incisions are typically closed with sutures or surgical clips, typically removed after one week of recovery.
Results – visible results are evident once residual bruising and swelling subside, which may take up to 6-8 weeks. Healing depends on the type or combination of procedures performed and your personal ability to heal.
